CD Pressing vs Duplication.
Pressing is also know as “replication.” Replication is one of two processes we use to produce our discs. A pressed or replicated disc is actually pressed or stamped in a large hydraulic press, using small granules of heated raw polycarbonate plastic. Then something called a glass master is created from your CD or DVD master & used to transfer your data directly to the newly created disc.
This is a very fast & cost effect process for producing large volume of discs.
Although it’s not economical for small volumes… And thats where duplication comes in.
Duplication.
Duplication is a digital disc production process, that uses existing blank discs. Data is burned onto the blank side of the disc using lasers in our specialist duplication equipment. It’s the very same process you would use at home or the office to burn a disc on your computer. The only difference is we use commercial grade discs & production equipment.
Duplication is best suited for producing small volumes very quickly, unlike the cd pressing process.
One process won’t produce a superior quality disc to the other, but they both have their own advantages.
